He was among the founders of the Heritage Institute for Policy Studies (HIPS), an independent institute analyzing Somali affairs, and served as its first director. He served as Minister of Planning and International Cooperation from January 2015 to April 2017, and in 2017 became a Senior Advisor to former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo. He also served as Director of Planning and Strategy at a United Nations agency based in Jordan. He currently leads the Xaqsoor political party and manages Laasfort Consulting Group.

Mohamed Ali Nur, known as Americo, is a Somali diplomat and politician. He studied at Montgomery College and the University of Maryland in the United States. He worked at the Central Bank of Somalia, where he headed the accounts department from 1986 to 1991. After the collapse of the central government, he moved to North America, where he continued his education and worked in business and management. In 2004, he was appointed Director General of the Office of the Prime Minister. From 2007 to 2015, he served as Somalia's Ambassador to Kenya, during which the Somali Embassy in Nairobi was reopened, part of the embassy's property was recovered, consular services were developed, and diplomatic relations between Somalia and Kenya were strengthened. In 2016, he ran for President of the Federal Republic of Somalia. In August 2025, he was appointed General Manager of the Port of Mogadishu, taking over the management of the port authority.

Odowaa Yusuf Rage is a military officer in the Somali National Armed Forces. He was born on 14 April 1987 in Mahadaay district, Middle Shabelle region. He joined the army in 2007 and undertook military training in countries including Uganda, Sudan, and Türkiye, covering close protection, officer training, infantry command, and war college studies. Over his military career he passed through various ranks and positions. After becoming an officer, he served in the protection of the National Presidential Palace and commanded units of the Somali National Armed Forces. In 2018 he was appointed Commander of the Army's infantry, and on 27 August 2019 he was appointed Commander of the Somali National Army. He held that position until June 2023, when he was replaced by Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyadin Addow. On 9 November 2024 he was appointed Commander of the Somali National Army for a second time. On 29 January 2026, the Council of Ministers removed him from the position, and he was replaced by Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud. In both terms he led military operations against Al-Shabaab and the handover of security responsibility being transferred from African Union forces. During his military service he received successive promotions, rising from a junior rank to the rank of Major General by the end of his first term in 2023. In July 2020 he survived an assassination attempt targeting his convoy in Mogadishu, and on 21 April 2025 he survived another assassination attempt.
